As you know, James Cameron and company re-released “Titanic” in 3D. Today, my friends and I went to see the re-release and I have to say…that damn movie get me every time.
My top three most unforgettable scenes from the film include:
- When Jack and Rose attend that sweet party below deck. I felt they really bonded while dancing their faces off.
- When Rose is going down in the lifeboat but jumps back onto the sinking ship to be with Jack a little bit longer. Then that flare goes off in the background. Tears, tears and more tears.
- Finally, the most memorable scene is when Jack and Rose get it in…obviously.
To commemorate “Titanic” in 3D I would like to share the one song that makes me weep within the first 5.9 seconds.
Damn you Celine!
Topless Wednesday…wait a tick

Well have no fear…Kari is here!
I thought I would mix it up this week and post about this particular gentleman on Topless Wednesday instead of the typical Tuesday. This man is just that special…he has earned his own topless day of the week.
Leonardo DiCaprio
If you have been missing in action for the past few weeks, I’ll fill you in on the most important thing you may have missed. “Titanic” was released in 3D!
Personally, I’ve been waiting 15 years for this moment and in four days I will be sitting in the movie theatre with my sweet, sweet 3D glasses on experiencing “Titanic” like never before. Yes, I realize that I am a tad late in getting my behind to the movies…blame it on the #GradSchoolProblems.
Let’s be real…who doesn’t want to see a three-dimensional shot of Kate and Leo getting intimate on the bow of that majestic ship? You all know my answer.
Anywho, Leo is an extremely well-known actor that has starred in many amazing films such as, “The Aviator,” “Revolutionary Road,” and “The Departed.” Instead of giving a brief biography on Mr. DiCaprio, I’ve decided to share some unique facts about this beautiful man:
- Leo’s middle name is Wilhelm
- His film debut was in the groundbreaking 1991 film “Critters 3“
- Leo’s parents decided on the name Leonardo because his mother first felt Leo kick in the womb while she was gazing at a Leonardo Da Vinci painting
- Mr. DiCaprio originally turned down the roll of Jack Dawson in “Titanic.” Director James Cameron convinced him to sign on and thank God he did
- Leo recently bought an island in Belize which he plans to build an eco-friendly resort on…he’s a big fan of the Earth
On a final note, I just want to mention that I am still on Team Kate & Leo 4ever. I really don’t understand why they are continuously slapping cupid in the face and denying their love. Therefore, I’m taking donations in order to create Team Kate & Leo 4ever T-shirts for everyone.
Leo – The rapper Drake has stated in the past: “It must be hard to be that fine” in his song “Make Me Proud.” I think he’s talking about you boo!
I’m on a boat…with a celebrity and a life vest

Grab your life vests…we are going on a celebrity-themed cruise!
I was inspired to write this post because I recently saw that one of America’s national treasures is hosting a cruise. This cruise sets sail from New Jersey and docks in the Bahamas.
The national treasure I’m referring to is named Deena and she is one of those crazy kids on the “Jersey Shore.” Since Deena is a self-proclaimed “blast in a glass,” I obviously need to be on this vessel. Let’s be real…this is a once and a lifetime opportunity. I can already picture Deena and I singing “I’m on a Boat” by The Lonely Island and screaming all those classic lines from “Titanic.”
Anywho, despite the fact that I cannot swim, I do like to dream about what celebrity I would hop on board a floating death trap for. If you’ve seen “Titanic” you understand where my fear stems from.
Check it.
The Mob Wives
Guilty as charged! Yes, I watch this show and I love it…a lot. It even made the Sunday TV schedule at my apartment…and that is a hard list to get on to. The show is basically about six women who have ties to the mob and like to scream about anything that blows their way.
These classy ladies also like the beat the living daylights out of each other….weaves go flying left and right.
Along with those admirable traits, the Mob Wives curse like sailors…so much so that I believe every third word is bleeped. This shit is cray and totally awesome…it’s the perfect recipe for a great reality show.
Why the “Mob Wives” would get me in a life vest and on a boat? Two words…Big Ang. I promise after you get to know Big Ang, you’ll be standing next to me in the cruise ship buffet line.
Of course there is more…stay tuned!

Today is a day for celebration. Why you ask? 36 years ago today… Kate Winslet was birthed!
Hopefully your company and/or institute of higher learning gave you the day off…it is a national holiday afterall. I will also make the argument that many companies and schools close up shop for December 25th in honor of another birthday…you know who I’m talking about. It’s only fair that we have Kate’s bday off.
Born and raised in Berkshire, England, Winslet is one of four children. Kate has been crafting her acting skills since she was a child. 1991 was when Kate made her acting debut on British television. The first film that Kate graced with her presence was “Heavenly Creatures” in 1994.
You may have seen this fantastical woman in such films as “Titanic” (personal favise), “The Reader,” “The Holiday” and the list goes on and on and on. She also won some pretty big awards in her time. Kate has a Golden Globe, an Oscar and an Emmy on her mantle. I’m starting the Kate Winslet wins a Tony campaign on Friday…send me a smoke signal if you want to join the revolution.
She has many other talents besides acting. Kate is a cool mom, a sweet tap dancer, a lifesaver and is totally okay with flashing her lady lumps on the big screen. You go girl!
P.S. Winslet and her breasts have been endorsed by Oprah…need I say more?
Dear Kate – you are a classy and unforgettable woman… I hope you are partying your face off today. Call me if you need a designated driver.Hopefully you will see Leo in his birthday suit tonight! Love – Kari
Celebs who would match on Match.com…part III
Posted: September 16, 2011 Filed under: Random | Tags: golden globe, kate winslet, Leo DiCaprio, Match.com, online dating, Revolutionary Road, The Reader, Titanic, true love Leave a comment »Kate Winslet & Leo DiCaprio
For my final installment of the celebs who would match on Match.com series, I have chosen…Kate and Leo. Not a big surprise and I’m pretty sure I’m starting to sound like a broken record. Why do I keep bringing this up? I just don’t understand why these two soul mates are punching Cupid in the face and denying their love. I would like some answers, that’s all.
We first saw this meant to be pair in the most epic film of our time…“Titanic.” I’m going to guestimate here, I believe 1 in every 2.3 people have seen this movie. Therefore, I don’t feel the need to delve into that part of their relationship. But I will link to a clip because I have given a lot of my time to this film, so I believe everyone else should as well.
I do have to get this off my chest…Kate – I hope you flubbed the “Jack, I’m flying” scene many times (on purpose) for the sole fact that you could continually make out with Leo in that position. If you’d like to call me and fill me in on the hot gossip, I’d be willing to listen.
Fast-fowarding to 2009, Kate won a Golden Globe for her role as April in “Revolutionary Road.” If you haven’t heard of this film, I will give you a brief background. First and foremost, Leo played Kate’s husband in the film…I really wish they would stop pretending already. Anywho, this film chronicled the budding romance and marriage between Frank Wheeler (Leo) and April Wheeler (Kate). Warning: It’s pretty depressing and will probably make you reconsider marriage in the future.
Back to the Golden Globe…Kate gives a shout out to Leo and says, “Leo, I’m so happy I can stand up here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years…” The camera shoots to Leo and he blows Kate not one, but two kisses.
While promoting “Revolution Road,” these two lovers have said wonderful things about each other:
- Kate told “Entertainment Weekly,” ”I hadn’t realized how much my chemistry with [Leo] since `Titanic’ would still stick. It’s great to discover we can just slip right into it (hehe), like muscle memory.”
- Leo told “Esquire,” “Kate Winslet is one of my dearest friends. We have the ultimate trust in each other and the best intentions for what we want to do. I knew Kate before Sam even met her.”
Moving onto the Oscars…finally God gave the world a gift we have been waiting many, many years for…Kate Winslet won Best Actress for “The Reader.”
Now we all know the Best Actress Oscar curse is real and it inevitably snuck up on Kate. Shortly after her big Oscar win, Kate and her husband (Sam) announced they were splitting up. Guess who was there for Kate through the sad times…Leo!
First Date Location: Maybe wining and dining on a yacht…they could make out shamelessly on the bow of the ship. Since Kate is a classy lady, Leo would drive/escort her home. We all know how much Kate likes backseats…oops can’t say that!
I really don’t think I have to give any more evidence as to why these two need to man up and admit their undying devotion to each other. If necessary, I will go to church and light a candle everyday for you two. Someone let me know if I need to do that.
If I was stranded on a desert island…Part III
Posted: September 5, 2011 Filed under: Movies | Tags: box office, Celine Dion, Jack Dawson, kate winslet, Leo DiCaprio, movie, My Heart Will Go On, Rose DeWitt Bukater, ship, Titanic Leave a comment »‘Titanic’
As I mention in an earlier post, “Titanic” is the one and only movie that can stop me from pretty much anything I am doing. In the past, this film has halted many activities such as: walking, breathing, blinking and even hitting the town on a Saturday night. If you know me, you know that’s a pretty big deal. I figured I would need a love story for the island and “Titanic” gives the love and so much more.
Debuting in 1999, this “epic romance and disaster film” caused a tsunami at the box office, grossing $1.8 billion worldwide. One of the pieces that makes this movie puzzle complete is the cast…mainly Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
DiCaprio played Jack Dawson – a poor young gentleman/artist who saves Rose and falls for her the moment he lays eyes on that ginger beauty (and/or when he sees Rose wearing her birthday suit). Winslet played Rose DeWitt Bukater – a 19-year-old who is en route to America in order to marry her fiancé, Cal. She meets Jack while trying to jump off the back of the boat. Obviously, the engagement to Cal wasn’t going too well.
The film follows the budding relationship of Rose and Jack. Then BAM! The ship hits a friggin’ iceberg and shit gets real.
You may be wondering why I would choose this film out of all the other love stories out there. Here are my reasons:
- Kate Winslet gave us ladies a new way to piss off your current boyfriend…by getting your new boyfriend to draw you naked and then give the drawing to the boyfriend you dislike.
- Kate Winslet also gave us females a new way to seduce our new bf. Scene: Rose and Jack are in backseat of car and Rose states, “Put your hands on me, Jack.” Now that’s classy.
- Celine Dion delivered an amazing song to bust out at karaoke night…”My Heart Will Go On.” Yes, I have rolled all my Honda windows down and exclaimed every single lyric…don’t pretend you haven’t.
- This film gave us a new activity to participate in. If you have ever been on a boat, you most likely have tried to climb up the bow of the ship and scream, “I’m the king of the world.”
“Titanic” has made me permanently afraid to go on a booze cruise. Even if it is in the warmest of climates, I will not blink in case there is an iceberg just waiting to bring my ship down. I will also sleep/shower/drink with a life vest on at. all. times!
Below is a clip of my favises scene in the movie and before you assume…no, it’s not the part when Rose thrusts her hand against the glass. That is in the top 3 of course. Favises quote: “You jump I jump, right?”
BTW – I will be sailing to the movie theatre on April 6, 2012 for the rerelease of “Titanic” in 3-D!!!! And Leo – This message is for you. Put a ring on Kate’s finger…everyone knows you are soul mates.
