If a Genie Granted Me 3 Wishes…part III

For my final wish, I have chosen to spend the day with…drumroll please…

John Krasinski

John plays the cute and loveable Jim Halpert on “The Office” and he seems to be just as cute and loveable in real life. Too bad Emily Blunt scooped him up and put a ring on John before I could.

On the bright side, John has two older brothers…Kevin and Paul…hopefully single and ready to mingle!

Born Oct. 20, 1979, John is from the classier part of the States…Newton, Massachusetts. I’m gonna hop into my time machine and jump ahead to John’s adult life…he attended Brown University to study theatre arts. I knew I should have weaseled my way into the Ivy Leagues…dammit.

After graduating with honors (he’s so smart), John travelled to New York City and worked towards his dream of becoming an actor.

He appeared in commercials and guest spots on television shows while working as a waiter…you have to pay the bills somehow.

Side note: 11 years ago…John was also a script intern for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” show.

We really got acquainted with John in March of 2005…when the first episode of “The Office” aired. John plays Jim Halpert and there are three real reasons to love both of these men:

  1. Jim Halpert loves practical jokes
  2. Jim Halpert loves Pam…a lot…sigh
  3. John Krasinski traveled to SCRANTON, PA (where “The Office” is filmed and where I was birthed) to film Scranton landmarks and the clips of the fabulous city that are shown in the opening credits

Along with his thriving TV career, John is starting to make a name for himself outside “The Office.” Mr. Krasinski has starred and/or made cameos in some pretty well known films…let’s make a short list:

  • Dreamgirls
  • The Holiday
  • Leatherheads
  • It’s Complicated

While this list isn’t John’s entire filmography, I have gather this much…he has come into contact with Beyoncé, Kate Winslet, George Clooney and Alec Baldwin <3 I’m such a jelly belly right now.

Okay, I’ve put this off long enough…in 2008 John was set up with his future wife (Emily Blunt) by Anne Hathaway. I guess the first date went well because July 10, 2010 these two beauties got hitched. It’s not like I can be mad at Emily for marrying this fine gentleman. I would have done the same damn thing.

Why would I wish to hang out with John?

This tall glass of water is cute, funny, smart and successful…why wouldn’t a single lady like myself want to hang out with him?! On top of all those great things…he has been to SCRANTON! That’s a man after my own heart.

John – if you are EVER in Scranton, PA again…my mom has a nice castle on the west side that we would be more than happy to have you slumber at. If it’s absolutely necessary, I guess your wife can come too. Call me!

Emmys – The Funny – The Worst – The Favises cont.

I made a decision…decision made: In my eyes, the 63rd Emmys get a 96.8% success rate. But there were a few moments that I am tossing into The Worst category. Away we go!

Christina Hendricks Snub #2

Ever since “Mad Men” debuted, I have been waiting for Joan Holloway to bask in Emmy glory. Once again, the academy did not choose Christina Hendricks as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

After my Emmy-induced blackout subsided, I realized something quite astounding. While she has yet to achieve Emmy glory, the big guy above has given Xtina Hendricks many special gifts. Some of these gifts include, but are not limited to:

  • A rack that makes the female population obligated to hate her, but we can’t because she is so epic
  • Ginger hair that is considered beautiful, instead of creepy
  • A job that allows her to be surrounded by beautiful men all. damn. day…most importantly John Slattery
  • The chance to meet Ryan Gosling (a.k.a Gos-Gos) while co-staring in “Drive”

While I could probably go on forever about Xtina Hendricks’ talent, good looks, etc., I’ll end on the Gos-Gos high note.

Rewinding to last evening, I thought Xtina Hendricks had that Emmy locked down. I was smiling because I was anticipating her cute, but funny acceptance speech…that was until Ducky and Ashton called the wrong name!

Okay, they didn’t exactly call the wrong name, but the Emmy did not go to Xtina Hendricks, it went to Margo Martindale from “Justified.” The opening line of her speech was, “Sometimes things just take time.”

I will admit I was mad at Margo at first, but after her speech I cried a little bit. I also texted Xtina Hendricks and said, “You’ll win next year, boo.”

Steve Carell Snub #84759453

For the 6th year in a row, Steve Carell was passed over again by whoever votes for the Emmys. I don’t understand…his portrayal of Michael Scott could teach all of us valuable life lessons. For example:

  • The phrase “that’s what she said” is a good filler for any awkward conversation
  • If/when you hit a coworker with a vehicle…just remember it’s not your fault
  • He showed me that when a co-worker looks like they may have an alcohol problem, you drag them to rehab

After reminiscing about these funny, yet helpful life lessons, I am still amazed that Steve Carell didn’t walk home with the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy. Who did? Jim Parsons.

To be honest, I have never watched the show Jim Parsons is on…therefore, I’m on team Steve. I thought Mr. Jim would have at least said “Hey Steve, I’m giving this to you.”

I’m not the only one upset about this…Dwight Schrute feels the same. “The world of TV should be ashamed of itself that Steve Carell never won an Emmy for Michael Gary Scott. Goodnight,” said Rainn Wilson. I concur.

Steve – thanks for the life lessons, especially the one where you taught us to always have a camera handy. If the Emmys won’t give you a shout-out, go for the real gold…The Oscars.

Waiting for “Mad Men”

I can’t believe I had to wait the entire three hour telecast to see anyone from the AMC hit show up on the stage in victory. I blame you Emmy Academy!

Adios Michael Scott

All Good Things… Must Come to an End.

Last week, we hit a bittersweet television milestone. Michael Scott has officially retired his World’s Best Boss mug and has departed from the “The Office.” Where is Michael Scott going? He decided move to Colorado to spend time with his lady.

In actuality Steve Carell, who has played the famed Michael Scott for seven years, had announced a few months ago that this season would be his last. Carell, who has been in popular movies such as “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and “Date Night,” decided to leave “The Office” to pursue other projects. Set to take his place as head honcho of Dunder Mifflin is Will Ferrell.

Throughout the years, we have seen Michael get himself into unbelievable situations. Some top moments that stand out are his never-ending feud with Toby, hitting Meredith with his car and hosting a charity race for rabies. While Michael Scott has caused trouble for him and his co-workers, you can’t help but love him.

In his last episode entitled, “Goodbye Michael,” our world’s best boss shows his employees how much he truly cares for them. In turn, he is showing his fans how much he cares about us as well.

Scranton, PA – Celebrity?

There is one character on the show that will never re-located and that is Scranton, which is where Dunder Mifflin is located. As a long-time resident of the area, “The Office” has really placed my hometown on the map. Whenever I meet a new person and they ask me where I’m from, the following response is usually “Oh, where Dunder Mifflin is?” After experiencing this so many times, I’ve realized that Scranton has become somewhat of a celebrity.

It’s funny to remember the times when people have never heard of Scranton, we were just known as a coal town. Driving into the city, there is that now famous sign that says, “Scranton – Welcome Home,” which can be seen on the opening credits of “The Office.” It was always there, but no one ever noticed it. Once the show became a hit, people were seen taking their picture next to the welcoming sign. Mind you, they are exiting their car on an exit ramp to Interstate 81.

The city has started to capitalize on its fame from “The Office.” There is “The Office Tour,” which takes participants around the city to various locations made famous by the show. Fun Fact: Poor Richard’s is a bar located in a bowling alley.

Even though Michael Scott has moved away from Scranton, PA, there will always be a place for him in our hearts. I just hope my hometown doesn’t let the fame go to its head.
