Before I get bombarded with angry fan mail, I know it is not Tuesday…it is Friday. I realized that I made a humongous oops and didn’t choose a topless gentleman for this week! There is a good reason though, I had a 15 page paper due as a final project for one of my classes. I apologize and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.
A few days ago I was in line at the grocery store. My roommate was flipping through Us Weekly and showed me a picture of my love, Joshua Jackson…without his top on! It was an exciting moment for me…as it should be for everyone on Earth and maybe even that new planet that recently popped up.
It is very rare that Mr. Jackson shares his goodies. I can count on one hand how many times he (or Katie Holmes) took his top off on “Dawson’s Creek.” For that I say…boo you whore.
Anywho, after “Dawson’s Creek” ended and my world crumbled around me, Joshua did a lot of independent films, including a favise of mine, “One Week.”
In 2008, Joshua landed the role of Peter Bishop on “Fringe” and has made television a better place for the past four seasons.
Okay, I think I’m ready to discuss the elephant in the room. Joshua apparently has been dating Diane Kruger since 2006. My heart actually hurt when I typed that…ugh.
Diane has publicly stated that she “doesn’t believe in marriage.” I guess her ex-husband (Guillaume Canet) really did a number on her. Even though Diane has stolen my love…I’d shoulder check Canet for hurting a fellow lady.
But it is my personal belief that it is just a sin not to marry Joshua…it’s like slapping Cupid in the face. He is a lover, not a fighter!
I will give Diane this though, she has really stepped up Joshua’s fashion game. I remember the days when he would wear a sports jersey or a sweater from American Eagle. Now he is wearing some really classy shit. For example, tuxedos, scarves and smoking jackets.
Joshua – If you are ever in Philadelphia…you know the drill. See you at the Creek reunion!
While Sarah Michelle Gellar kicked ass as Buffy, she has accomplished many other feats in her time. Another favises SMG moment is when she embodied Kathryn Merteuil in “Cruel Intentions.”
“Cruel Intentions” is based on the 1782 French novel “Les Liaisons dangereuses.” This novel is described as “the story of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals (and ex-lovers) who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade others, all the while enjoying their cruel games.” Who knew they were writing such scandalous novels back then? I knew I should have bought that time machine off eBay.
I fully believe that anyone who has seen “Cruel Intentions” knows it’s an iconic film in pop culture history. I believe there are many reasons for this, but I only want to mention two.
1. Joshua Jackson made a cameo…with blonde hair.
2. We saw Sarah Michelle Gellar like we’ve never seen her before.
SMG’s character, Kathryn Merteuil “prides herself on destroying the lives of others whilst controlling them to suit her own ends.” We see this description come to light throughout the film as she tries to destroy Cecile Caldwell’s life (hilariously played by Selma Blair) just because Cecile is dating Kathryn’s ex-boyfriend. How does Kathryn do that, she enlists her step-brother Sebastian Valmont (played by Ryan Phillippe) to sleep with Cecile and ruin her good girl reputation.
Enter Annette Hargrove (beautifully played by Reese Witherspoon) who is portrayed as the virtuous good girl of the headmaster. Sebastian and Kathryn make a life-altering bet that depends on Sebastian sleeping with Annette Hargrove. Welp, Sebastian falls for Annette (duh, it is Reese Witherspoon) and Kathryn gets pissed.
I’m sure I would get angry fan mail if I didn’t mention this part of the movie…when Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair make out on screen. This movie came out in 1999, so this was a big deal back then. These two ladies won Best Kiss at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards…you remember their acceptance speech, right? These two even beat out Katie Holmes..that’s a big deal in my book.
In the end, Kathryn gets what is coming to her. I mean who can get away with pretending to be Christian and storing cocaine in your rosary. I bet rosary sales went through the roof and catholic schools across the country brought in the drug dogs.
In case you haven’t seen the film I won’t Spoiler Alert you, but I will post the clip of the last scene.
While movie execs tried to ride on the successful coattails of “Cruel Intentions,” the second and third films aren’t worth mentioning…trust me.
Remember – tonight at 9 p.m. SMG is returning to TV in “The Ringer.” Please watch, Sarah and Freddie have a baby to support!
3. Adam Brody
My first thoughts when I saw this strapping young gentleman on “The O.C.” were “wow, he has great hair.” There is just something about Adam Brody, he’s a nerd, but not in that creepy – I want you to dress up and play dungeons and dragons – kind of way. The “Los Angeles Times” even crowned Adam as TV’s sexiest geek. If that doesn’t make your parents proud, I don’t know what will.
There was one particular moment during “The O.C.” that really made me fall in love. When Adam’s character, Seth, is trying to claim his lady, Summer. While Summer is working a kissing booth at their high school (did anyone really have those?) and Seth clumsily climbs up on the booth to profess his love in front of their classmates. Summer caves and climbs up next to Seth and kisses him for all to see. He really gave us fellow nerds hope!
As for Adam’s love life, he dated fellow O.C. alum Rachel Bilson for 3 years. While I felt this was a match made in heaven, this couple called it quits in 2006. Rumor has it, Adam is courting a new lady, Lorene Scafaria.
Adam – Stay cute and nerdy. It suits you well.
2. Ryan Gosling
Mr. Gosling has cemented himself a spot in all good boyfriend lists because of what he said about his ex, Rachel McAdams. In an interview with “GQ Magazine,” “I mean, God bless “The Notebook,” Gosling says. “It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that.” Now that is a great man.
Along with being sexy, Ryan is branching out with his career. He recently took on a slightly comedic role in “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” He also likes to show off his other talents, which include music. Gosling is in a band called, “Dead Man’s Bones” with his friend Zach Shields, along with that he kills it with the ukulele.
I’ve heard rumblings that Mr. Gosling could be dating Olivia Wilde. While I’m not super excited about this, I guess I have no choice but to deal with it. Since him and Rachel McAdams (and Sandra Bullock…remember?) couldn’t make it work, I’m really hoping for Emma Stone to get a turn up to bat. (hint, hint).
Ryan – You are the perfect man…don’t change a thing. Oh yea, and call me.
1. Joshua Jackson
You know how they say you can’t choose the ones you love? Well I’m sorry Joshua Jackson, but I think you were chosen for me. Let me list the ways in which I am showing this beautiful man my love. 1. When “Dawson’s Creek” was still churning out new episodes on The WB, I used my mom’s VHS player to record every single episode. To this day, I have a plastic tote in my home filled with VHS tapes of every single episode of “Dawson’s Creek.” 2. I have seen/own all of his movies. 3. I have a Google Alert set up for the latest updates on my love. I think I better stop there…I don’t want to be arrested for stalking.
While it’s pretty clear that Joshua is happy with his long-term girlfriend, Diane Kruger, they even wear promise rings (knife right to the heart). I think there is only one woman I would be happy to see Joshua with and that is Katie Holmes. These two ex-lovebirds dated during the beginnings of the Creek and they sadly broke up.
In an article with the “Mirror,” Joshua said, “Myself and James, who played Dawson, never got on. We were like oil and water; it might have had something to do with James liking Katie Holmes as well. If it hadn’t been for Kate defusing the situation I don’t know what would have happened.” Let’s remember who won that contest Van Der Beek. Here’s hoping Joshua will jump in and help free Katie!
Joshua – you are my boo. That is all.
Joshua Jackson was in “Urban Legend”
Yes, let’s bring it back to the 90s horror genre when you couldn’t pick up the phone without being asked “what’s your favorite scary movie?” or someone leaving you a note that read “I know what you did last summer.”
“Urban Legend” gave us another one of these classy horror films. As the movie progresses, we see the characters being knocked off one-by-one. Tara Reid, Rebecca Gayheart and Jared Leto also star in this Academy Award nominated film (I kid, I kid).
In my opinion, I will vote for “Urban Legend” as the best of the 90s horror films for the sole fact that Joshua Jackson graced us with his presence. Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of his blonde locks, I’m willing to forgive. Put this DVD in your Netflix’s queue before they make that 60% price increase!
Debuting on The WB network on January 20, 1998, “Dawson’s Creek” was a coming-of-age teen drama that followed the lives of four sophomores growing up in Capeside, Massachusetts.
At the time of its debut, the show portrayed many risky storylines that included a student-teacher relationship, a wife cheating with her coworker, teen sex, and gay teens. One unique thing about Dawson’s Creek was the character’s vocabulary. They used words in their dialogue that some adults don’t even utilize.
Lasting six glorious seasons, we followed these characters from high school, through college, and five years into the future. Being a huge fan, this show helped me understand my teen years, I felt that I was right alongside Joey Potter. With that being said, let’s see what Dawson, Joey, Pacey and Jen have been up to in recent years.
James Van Der Beek – Dawson Leery
After Dawson’s Creek ended in 2003, Van Der Beek is now married to his business consultant Kimberly Brook. The couple has a daughter named Olivia. As for his acting career, Van Der Beek was off the radar for some time. He made guest appearances on many television shows such as, “Ugly Betty,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “One Tree Hill.” Van Der Beek is now trying for a comeback. He has a number of short films on deck and appeared in Ke$ah’s “Blow” music video.
Katie Holmes – Joey Potter
If you don’t know what Katie Holmes has been up to, you must live under a rock. In 2005, Holmes started dating movie star Tom Cruise. Many thought the relationship was a publicity stunt, but they may be in it for the long hall. The couple married in 2006 and are now raising a five-year-old daughter, Suri. Holmes has been steadily working as an actress, most recently playing Jackie Kennedy in the controversial mini-series, “The Kennedy’s.” Despite what critics say, she was a spitting image of Jackie and did a fantastic job.
Joshua Jackson – Pacey Witter
Since wrapping “Dawson’s Creek, ”Jackson has starred in many lesser known, but great films such as, “One Week,” “Americano” and hosted “Pacey-Con 2010.” He hit television gold again with a staring roll on Fox’s “Fringe,” playing Peter Bishop. Jackson is currently dating actress Diana Kruger and lives in Vancouver where he films “Fringe.”
Michelle Williams – Jen Lindley
Williams has had quite the ride since Dawson’s said farewell. Since 2003, she has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in “Brokeback Mountain” and Best Actress in “Blue Valentine.” Meeting on the set of “Brokeback Mountain,” Williams began dating Heath Ledger. The couple had a daughter, Matilda in 2005. On the horizon, Williams has snatched the role of a lifetime, playing Marilyn Monroe in “My Week with Marilyn.” Keep a look out for this movie!
Even though “Dawson’s Creek” hasn’t been on the air in eight years, it will forever live in our hearts. You can purchase the entire series in a box set. I recommend that you do, the show is timeless.
