The meaning of a ‘religious experience’

Saturday night I saw God. Ok, I really saw Britney Spears…pretty close though, right? The Femme Fatale tour cruised its way into the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Saturday evening (July 30). I was thinking of the best way to blog about my experience, so I’ve decided to go with the first person perspective on my night with B. Spears.

After a interesting ride on SEPTA, my group of loyal Britney followers and I arrived at the Wells Fargo Center around 4:30 p.m. We hung out in the parking lot, listened to some Britney songs and passed around a few bottles of Kool-Aid. Around 7 p.m. we headed in and found our seats. While not the closest seats in the arena, I still had a perfect view of the stage and surrounding screens that would focus on my idol.

Did I mention that Nicki Minaj happened to be there? As we all know, the ‘Pink Friday’ singer was Spears’ partner in crime. Minaj performed some of her well-known songs and mash-ups of her cameos in songs such as, “Bottoms Up” and a crowd favorite “Super Bass.” My favorite Nicki moment was when she did her bit from Kanye’s “Monster.” Don’t get me wrong, I am a Nicki fan, but let’s be real…I was there to see Britney. Nicki was on stage for about 45 minutes and then the party really got started.

Whenever you are at a B. Spears concert and you hear the famous slogan “It’s Britney Bitch” you know the “Toxic” singer isn’t far behind. Opening with “Hold it Against Me,” Britney sang seven jams off her newest album “Femme Fatal” and some old hits that included, “…Baby One More Time, “I’m a Slave for You” and  “Don’t Let Me be the Last to Know.” While most songs were lip-synced, Perez’s estimation of 40% live was seemingly correct.

Best song that she sung live: “Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know.” Why: It was live AND they placed her on a swing high above the stage. Best song of the entire show: “Till the World Ends.” Why: It was the closing song, the audience got to chant Woah oh oh oh oh oh ohhh like a cult and it broke into the remix featuring a video version of Nicki Minaj. For a full set list of Brit’s songs, check out The Hollywood Reporter.

Onto the dancing portion of our show. While Britney’s dancing isn’t the same as it was when she was 16 years of age, she still shook her moneymaker and earned every penny of the $$$ her loyal followers dished out for tickets. She even brought a man up on stage and gave him a lap/pole dance! After seeing that, I made the decision…she’s still got it.

My friends and I didn’t sit for the 80 or so minutes that Britney was on stage. Being surrounded with fellow Britney fans is an epic experience. You all have one thing in common… you love the legendary Miss Britney Spears.

While I know everyone has a huge issue with the words “Britney” and “singing” in the same sentence, when you are watching her on stage, it’s hard to look away. She captivated the audience with the entire experience. I’m still in pain from my performance in section 203. In my opinion, Britney Spears can do no wrong. Obviously, we have been through some bumpy spots, but Britney has and always will come out on top. <3

On My Radar

Britney Spears’ much anticipated  “Femme Fatale” tour kicked off yesterday in Sacramento, CA. Many people have been putting their two cents in about how she will do on tour this time around. Much concerned revolved around the fact that she hasn’t been moving as well as she used to…she’s a mother of two and ten years older for goodness sakes.

Even her ex-bf Justin Timberlake has chimed in. Interviewing with “Playboy” JT stated, “People think they can say anything and it doesn’t matter to people. I’d love to see the people who comment about Britney online say those things to her face, because they couldn’t. Also, in Britney’s defense, if you pulled up a video I did from 2003, I couldn’t do the shit I did then either.”

Hey Britney…you are on Justin’s radar!!

Perez Hilton got a sneak peak of the tour and gave our girl rave reviews. This tour is even being called her “flashiest tour yet.” Anywho… In anticipation of seeing Britney in July, I thought I could focus this post on Britney’s past performance on award shows, television and any other venue or arena that Miss Spears has graced with her presence.

Welcome to the Circus

While the audio is a little strange (yes, I know she lip-syncs) this video offers up a front row seat to B. Spears performing “Circus.” Perez Hilton gives us an unforgettable yet awkward introduction. Britney then descends from the ceiling in her ringleader outfit complete with whip. She looks great dancing and stomping around stage…I’d go see the Circus again.

At least she didn’t climb on the desk…

This is one of my all-time favorite Britney performance videos that I have seen thus far. I am convinced she is actually singing “I’m a Slave for You” live on the David Letterman show. Her outfit, dance moves and hair are all on point as well. During the performance, she creeps her way over to Dave and gives him a surprise dance. But in true Barrymore fashion, she did not flash the Late Show host. Maybe next time, Dave.

Remember When?

Britney has had many memorable (one in particular that I wish I didn’t remember…you know what I’m speaking of) performances on the MTV Music Awards. I do have to say this one caused a bit of controversy when it aired. Many parents thought she was a bad influence since she looked practically naked during this performance. Hello! Her first song was called”…Hit Me Baby One More Time.” She wasn’t supposed to be a role model for children from the beginning. I give her props for this one. It was and will always be epic.
