While I was cruising home this evening, I heard a song by a beautifully handsome gentleman that everyone knows the lyrics to…whether you want to admit it or not.
Hint: “Let me be your hero.”
There are three things that pop into my mind when I hear Enrique’s name:
- Jennifer Love Hewitt screaming her face off in the music video for Enrique’s jam “Hero.”
- A beautiful beauty mark
- Leather pants
Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler graced us with his presence May 8, 1975. He was born in Madrid, Spain and you can never say no to a Spanish man.
Fun Facts about Enrique:
- He recorded his first demo tape on a cassette tape…remember those?
- Enrique’s dad is Julio Iglesias…he’s sort of a famous Spanish singer…okay he’s really famous.
- Enrique recorded his first album in Toronto
- This handsome man has released a total of nine albums and had completed six world tours…seven if you count this summer’s tour with J.LO!
- He’s been dating tennis star Anna Kournikova since 2001…no one really knows if they are a married or not…for the rest of womankind’s sake… hopefully not.
- Enrique is a TV star…he has guest starred on “How I Met Your Mother” and “Two and a Half Men.”
Out of all of Enrique’s accomplishments, there is one Enrique moment that always sticks out in my mind as the best…ever. You can view it below:
You can probably guess why I deemed this Enrique’s best moment in the history of moments, but I will tell you anyways. He was so, so close to my spiritual goddess The Legendary Miss Britney Spears.
Enrique – See you in A.C. boo!
Celebrities have been persuading us to buy products for many years. We not only see these stars on our favorite television shows and on the movie screen, but we see them on billboards, print ads and on the side of our favorite form of public transportation. We are bombarded with different forms of marketing all day, everyday. These ads turned on an idea light blub and inspired me to search for some of the products that celebrities choose to endorse.
Below are three of my favorite commercials featuring our favorite celebrities:
They Did Rock Us
Inspired by ancient times, Beyoncé, Pink and Britney transform themselves into Gladiators and come together for this three-minute ad for Pepsi. The ad features the pop stars singing Queen’s “We Will Rock You” in what looks like to be the Coliseum. Enrique Iglesias makes a guest appearance as a Caesar look-alike. He is watching over the three women expecting them to battle. Things don’t go as Enrique planned, especially when Beyoncé, Pink and Britney sing, throw cans of soda to the crowd and each enjoy a delicious Pepsi. In the end, a lion approaches Enrique for what will most likely be a tragic end. Britney, you convinced me to switch to Pepsi!
Jennifer Aniston Starts a Virus
Opening with YouTube sensation, Keenan Cahill singing “Like a G6,”(the kid who lip-syncs today’s most popular songs online) Jennifer Aniston surprisingly walks up and asks if Keenan knows any songs about water. Obviously, we know this is going to be about Smart Water. From there, she explains that she can’t just do an ad about Smart Water, but she has to create an ad that will go viral. Complete with grinding babies, the crazy rainbow guy from YouTube and kicking Brad Wollack where the sun doesn’t shine, this ad definitely does the job of going viral. This particular video has over 9 million views. Go Team Jennifer!
James Bond in Drag?
In honor of the 100th annual International Women’s Day, Daniel Craig dresses in drag to promote equal rights for women. While looking wonderful in his heels, thigh highs, dress and blonde wig; a narrator proceeds to give the audience facts about the barrier that still exists between the sexes. Even today, women are still likely to make less than men for doing the same job, more likely to lose their jobs because they want to become a parent and are more likely to fall victim to sexual assault than a man. This ad is a great way to get the word out about inequality between the sexes and raise awareness. Finally, a commercial not demeaning to woman! Thank you James Bond.
Can’t wait to see what the future of celebrity advertising brings!
